National Service Scheme suggests adjustment of personnel allowances.
The National Service Authority (NSA) has intimated that the monthly allowances for National Service troops across the country will soon go increased. At the moment, staff members get roughly GH¢715 a month.
Ruth Dela Seddoh, the Acting Director-General of the NSA, told reporters in Accra that talks were well on to set a new rate, but she wouldn’t say what the exact percentage increase was being considered.
The President has said he is interested in it. But we all know the scenario we find ourselves in, and therefore we don’t want to press him too much. “Let’s be hopeful,” Ms. Seddoh said.
“I don’t want to go ahead of the Minister, but I can assure you that we have had very good talks, and we are hopeful that there will be some increment,” she said.
The government wants to improve the lives of young graduates who are serving in the National Service Scheme, and the reassessment of allowances is a part of that.
The NSA has also said that people can officially sign up for the 2025/2026 service year online starting on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and ending on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The Authority said that this decision was made after President John Dramani Mahama ordered it to be made. A Technical and Forensic Audit of the old Central Service Management Platform (CSMP) showed that it had serious problems with its functionality and data security.
The NSA has since been ordered to create and deploy a new, more robust digital infrastructure aimed at improving transparency, enhancing security, and ensuring real-time verification of service data.
In a statement, the Authority emphasized that all registrations completed in June 2025 have been ruled null and void due to data integrity concerns, including age inconsistencies found during the earlier process.
It thus asked all potential National Service individuals to re-register on the new platform within the prescribed period to secure participation in the following service year.
Ms. Seddoh emphasized the Authority’s commitment to continual development and openness in managing national service operations while promising personnel of improved conditions ahead.
